Title: New Decameron

Innovation: New Decameron is the first Polish premiere of an online show, prepared after the announcement of the pandemic. It is a team production. It consists of short stories and songs selected from Decameron – the famous collection of one hundred stories by Giovanni Boccaccio. Each of them was redesigned according to the original concept of the actor who chose it, filmed it and often edited it, using various artistic means. This diversity is proof of both the creative strength of the Legnica theater team and the rich imagination of Boccaccio – a virtuoso of style, a master in constructing picturesque characters and humorous accidents.
Decameron was created in the mid-fourteenth Century, in the world affected by the epidemic, as a kind of spiritual springboard, a return to a world in which order and reason still reigned, and love was the greatest driving force. Today we, locked in our homes, have a chance to confront this work our experience of the epidemic. We want to prove that the “time of the plague” will help us survive the story in which we will find together the strength that integrates people forcibly isolated, deprived of the usual point of support – the current rhythm of life.
